With TC/CC/CV charging algorithm and real-time detection, the charger is an intelligent and safe device, intelligently identifies the input power and automatically adjusts the appropriate charging current from 0.5A to 2A.

The TC/CC/CV charging algorithm used in the charger, is a charging process for Li-ION cells to ensure the good condition of the cell. It involves charging with the right current and also completing the charge at the right time. TC/CC/CV charging stages, we can divide into:

  • TC stage: the initial phase of checking and reactivating a cell whose voltage has dropped below 2.9V
  • CC stage: then the cell is charged with a constant current of 50mA to 500mA (depending on the connected power source).
  • CV stage: then the charger switches to charging with decreasing current until the cell voltage reaches 4.2V. When the cell voltage reaches 4.2V, charging is complete and the battery pack is fully charged

In addition, by connecting the 11.1V (3S) battery pack to the appropriate slot on the charger, you are assured of a complete optimal charge. And this is thanks to the charging function with a balancer, which gives an even charge to each of the pack's cells.


The device can be used to charge: Power banks, mobile devices such as phones and tablets, and this is thanks to the use of the USB output port.


The user interface is a screen, four LEDs and three buttons. A short press on the left button, changes the charging current between 0.5A, 1A and 2A. Pressing the round, middle button, will turn the display on/off. With the display off, inserting a cell will activate it again. The three-color LED display, CH1 - CH4, indicates the current status of the cell being charged.

The display shows advanced information on the LCD screen:

  • Charging current
  • Status of the cell
  • Capacity of the cell in percent
  • Type of cell and channels used
  • Cell voltage
  • State of charge / Test / Refresh
  • 3S pack / USB output status

The charging current is determined jointly for all channels by the button located below the display. When charging 1-2 batteries placed in the extreme channels, the maximum charging current is 2A. On the other hand, when charging 1-2 batteries or placing at least one battery in one of the two middle channels, the maximum charging current is 1A.

XTAR VP4 Plus DRAGON charger, has a function to reactivate deeply discharged cells and cells with 0V. Simply insert a deeply discharged battery into the charger as you would for normal charging, and the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it.

Caution: cells discharged below a certain level are irreversibly damaged and may not be able to be reactivated. Avoid discharging Li-ION batteries too deeply - this can lead to a significant reduction in their life and capacity or lead to their complete failure.

The charger has a system for effective heat dissipation during the charging process. Excessive heating of the cells can cause them to wear out faster. XTAR has also taken care of this by using an external power supply. As a result, the temperature of the rechargeable battery pack being charged in the VP4 Plus will rise by 15 degrees at most.

TheXTAR VP4 is equipped with sensors that allow users to test cell voltage, internal resistance and get other important information about the state of the batteries.
